Google reviews widget for Shopify
Embed your real Google reviews on your Shopify store with a Custom Liquid section and one line of code. No app to install, no monthly app fee stacked on top, and nothing that slows your theme down. This guide is the whole install.
Works on any Shopify theme No app install About five minutes
Before you start: you need a TrustGetter account with a saved widget, which is where your embed code comes from, and access to your Shopify admin. Custom Liquid sections are available on every Shopify plan, so there is nothing to upgrade.
How to add Google reviews to Shopify
Five steps. The first three happen in TrustGetter, and the last two in your Shopify theme editor.
Connect your Google business listing
Create a free account and search for your business by name, the way a customer would find you on Google Maps. We fetch your reviews once and serve your storefront from that copy, so a product page never waits on Google while a customer is deciding.
Choose a layout that fits your store
Nine templates across four layouts. A carousel or marquee works as a compact reviews badge just under an add-to-cart button; a grid suits a homepage trust section between your collections and your footer. Set colours, font and spacing to match your theme in the live preview.
Save the widget and copy the embed code
Saving publishes the widget and generates its embed code — two short lines, with your own widget id in place of the example:
Open your theme editor and add a Custom Liquid section
In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize on your live theme. Use the page selector at the top to choose the page the reviews belong on, then click Add section and pick Custom Liquid.
Drag the section up or down the left-hand list to position it — under the hero for a homepage trust band, or below the product description on a product page.
Paste the code and save
Paste the embed code into the Custom Liquid box and click Save. The theme editor preview should show your reviews within a second or two; if it does not, open the live storefront in a new tab, which is the authoritative check.
To show reviews on every product page at once, add the Custom Liquid section to the Product template rather than to one individual product. Shopify applies a template to every product that uses it, so one paste covers your whole catalogue and there is nothing to repeat when you add a new product later.
Common Shopify questions
Do I need a Shopify app for Google reviews?
No. This is a Custom Liquid section with one line of code in it, so there is no app to install, no app permissions to grant, and no second subscription in your Shopify bill. It also means nothing gets left behind in your theme if you ever stop using it — you delete the section and the store is exactly as it was.
Will this show my Google reviews or my Shopify product reviews?
Your Google reviews — the ones on your Google business listing, which are about your business as a whole. Shopify product reviews are a separate thing attached to individual products. Many stores show both: product reviews on the product, Google reviews as proof that the business behind it is real.
The reviews do not appear in the theme editor.
Check the live storefront first — the theme editor renders inside a frame and occasionally holds a stale copy of a section. If the live page is also empty, confirm you pasted both lines of the embed code, and that you saved the theme rather than only previewing it.
Can I use the same widget on more than one page?
Yes. The embed code is identical everywhere, so you can add the same Custom Liquid section to your homepage, your about page and your product template at no extra cost. A second widget is only needed for a second, different design.
Using something else?
The same widget and the same embed code work anywhere you can paste HTML. These guides give the exact menu names for each platform.
